I live on the very northern edge of Temple Terrace, along Fletcher Ave. My ride to and from work at USF, down Fletcher, is a nerve-wracking and dangerous experience. Hundreds of cars blow by me at speeds in excess of 60 miles an hour. Drivers seem to think that the thin white line in the bike lane is some sort of shield that protects me from flying debris and almost-hurricane-force winds that there cars create. In addition, the bike lane is full of sand, trash, and other debris that makes it, in some places, less than half as wide. It is NOT pleasant. I really do wish that Hillsborough County would make a commitment to biking-walking rather than paying lip service and adding an extra 24" of pavement to roads on occasion.
